Private Pilot Certificate

Most individuals interested in obtaining a Private Pilot Certificate ask how much it will cost and how long it will take to become a pilot.

The total cost and time it takes to obtain a Private Pilot's Certificate depends on solely on the individual, depending on his/her personal schedule, budget, and learning skills.

Flight schools will often quote a prices based on FAA 141 minimum requirements, which is 35 hours total time.  We at Air West Flight Center, Inc. feel 45 hours is a realistic number of hours for obtaining a Private Pilot Certificate based on how frequently an individual flies.  For example, if one flies three hours a week, a Private Pilot Certificate may be obtained in 15 weeks.  This will keep costs considerably lower than those who may fly less frequently requiring more time for review.
